Founded by Dr. Trivia Coley, a physical therapist turned candle artisan, our brand began in 2020 during the COVID-19 shutdown as a creative outlet and a mission to craft healthier home fragrance alternatives.

After launching in September 2021 with a paraffin-soy blend, Dr. Coley saw the impact of conventional wax on indoor air quality. Guided by her wellness background, she reformulated our candles using non-toxic, paraffin-free wax and safer fragrance oils. The result? Richly scented candles with a clean, long-lasting burn, perfect for mindful, health-conscious homes.

Rooted in her Southern upbringing in rural Georgia, each candle is designed to evoke comfort, nostalgia, and serenity. From seasonal favorites to signature blends, Southern Essence Candle Co. delivers a sensory experience that feels like home.
