Candle Care Guide: Burn for a Clean, Long-Lasting Glow

Proper candle care is the secret to enjoying a cleaner burn, more pungent fragrance, and a longer candle life. Whether you're using wood wick candles, soy candles, or our eco-friendly coconut-apricot wax candles, following these steps will help you create the perfect burn every time.

1. Trim the Wick Before Every Burn

For the best results, trim your candle wick to ¼ inch before lighting. This helps prevent soot, smoking, and uneven burning. Use a wick trimmer, nail clippers, or pinch off the burnt ends with your fingers. Proper wick trimming ensures a steady, even flame.

2. Light It Right & Create a Full Melt Pool

When lighting wood wick candles, hold the flame at the base of the wick for 10 seconds to melt the wax slightly. Wood wicks may require a few attempts to ignite during the first burn. Be patient!

Let your candle burn for at least 3-4 hours on the first use to create a full melt pool. This prevents candle tunnelling and maximizes burn time. The first burn sets the "memory" of your candle, so it's the most important one.

3. Candle Safety Tips You Shouldn’t Ignore

Always burn candles on a heat-resistant surface.

Keep away from drafts, vents, and anything flammable.

Never leave a lit candle unattended.

Keep away from children and pets.

Limit burn time to 4 hours per session.

4. Know When to Stop Burning

Discontinue use when only ¼ inch of wax remains at the bottom. Burning past this point can cause the jar to overheat and possibly crack.

5. Reuse & Repurpose Your Candle Jars

Give your candle jars a second life!

Boil water and pour it into the empty jar.

Let it sit for 2 hours, and the leftover wax will float to the top.

Remove wax and wick holder, then wash with warm soapy water.

Use your jar for storage, décor, or as a planter.
